floristry by hannah
Raised on a (tiny) island on Lake Erie, owner and head designer Hannah Sharkey, draws on her fond childhood memories and the nostalgia of growing up on Lake Erie and the adventures it always presented including native flora she was always collecting and foraging--Hannah seeks to instill and evoke those same feelings of natural beauty, wonderment and curiosity in each and every one of her designs while guided by a strong sense of design principles from her fine art background.
After 11 years living and working in NYC, she and her husband (and their english bulldog, Herbie) decided to jump on their dream of one day living along the Hudson river, having a yard to grow flowers and vegetables and a flower studio to design in.
The Hudson river holds such a special place in Hannah's heart; not only reminding her of home on the lake, but most importantly a muse; acting as a constant and fluid source of design inspiration in it's many shapes, colors and textures, along with all its natural bounty of surrounding wildflowers and foliage.
Thus, Hudson Botanica was born.
